The New York Knicks play host to the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Washington Wizards have found a bit of form with four wins in their last seven games and they will be looking to build on Saturday’s 102-88 home win over the struggling Nets. John Wall led from the front with 30 points and nine assists, Bradley Beal added 22 points while Markieff Morris chipped in with 20 points on nine of 12 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 51 percent from the field and eight of 26 from the 3-point line but they really couldn’t gain any separation until the second half where they outscored the Nets by 60-49 to hold them to their lowest-scoring game of the season. With the much-needed win, Washington improved to 9-14 overall and 7-5 at home.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been on a nice little run lately with four wins in their last six outings and they will be feeling pretty good about themselves after taking down the Bucks by 136-134 in overtime on Saturday. Emmanuel Mudiay led the team with 28 points and seven assists, Kevin Knox scored 26 points with four assists while Tim Hardaway Jr. and Damyeon Dotson each scored 21 points. As a team, the Knicks shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and 20 of 34 from the 3-point line as they outlasted the Bucks in what was their best team performance of the season. With the impressive upset, New York improved to 8-16 on the season and 4-6 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points. The Knicks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on one days rest, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games after scoring 125 points or more in their previous game and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the Wizards are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in New York and 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Wizards endured a rough start to the season but they look to be slowly turning the corner as they’re starting to string together wins and they looked great on defense against the Nets on Saturday. The Knicks also went through their struggles at the start of the season but they’ve suddenly hit a rich vein of form and they’ll be full of confidence following their gutsy win over the highly touted Bucks on Saturday. The Wizards have the clear advantage if you look at the betting trends as they are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in New York, but they’ve won just two of 11 road games this season so they’re anything but a lock at this point. With that being said, I think the Knicks surprise us again and come out on top as slight underdogs at home.
