The New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder meet Thursday in NBA action at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The New Orleans Pelicans could use a win here after losing four of their last six games. The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 117.1 points on 48.2 percent shooting and allowing 115.1 points on 46.3 percent shooting. Jrue Holiday is averaging 20.8 points and 8.1 assists while Julius Randle is averaging 20.1 points and 9.3 rebounds. Nikola Mirotic is the third double-digit scorer and E'Twaun Moore is grabbing 2.4 rebounds. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 36.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 46.9 rebounds per game. The New Orleans Pelicans have lost nine of their last 12 road games.
The Oklahoma City Thunder look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last eight games. The Oklahoma City Thunder are averaging 114 points on 45.7 percent shooting and allowing 109.1 points on 45.6 percent shooting. Paul George is averaging 27 points and 7.9 rebounds while Russell Westbrook is averaging 21.8 points and 10.6 assists. The Pelicans are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 Thursday games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 0 days rest and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Thunder are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Southwest. The Pelicans are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Oklahoma City. The over is 7-1 in Thunder last 8 overall. The over is 7-2 in Pelicans last 9 games playing on 0 days rest.
I'm not trying to get involved in this spread, as the Pelicans are a tough sell without Anthony Davis and the Oklahoma City Thunder have a history of making games tougher than they need to be. I will say that this total is quite high for a Pelicans team without their best player and on the end of a back to back. The Pelicans were just held to 94 points last night against the Pistons and have no consistent scoring outside of Holiday. The Oklahoma City Thunder have been an over machine lately due to a defense that's fallen apart over their last five games, but they're one of the top defensive teams when they want to be and their home games are averaging a combined 223.2 points. This total seems too high. Give me the under.
