The Utah Jazz pay a visit to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Friday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in great form as they’ve won six of their past nine games, but they will be looking to bounce back after falling short against the Warriors in a 115-108 loss on Feb 12. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 25 points, Ricky Rubio added 16 points with six assists while Rudy Gobert added 13 points with 16 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 11-point deficit to lead by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter before the Warriors won on a decisive 19-4 run to steal the game. With the loss, Utah fell to 32-25 overall and 14-15 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder were on a tear heading into the break as they’ve won 11 of their past 13 games and they will be looking to bounce back after having their four-game win streak snapped by the Pelicans in a 131-122 road loss on Feb 14. Russell Westbrook racked up a triple-double of 44 points with 14 rebounds and 11 assists, Paul George shot just three of 17 from the 3-point line to finish with 28 points while Nerlens Noel chipped in with 22 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Thunder shot 47 percent from the field, but they just couldn’t make the open shots as they shot just 10 of 44 from the 3-point line but they were still right in the game until the Pelicans pulled away on the back of Julius Randle and Jrue Holiday who combined for 65 points. With the loss, Oklahoma City fell to 37-20 overall and 17-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 23-11 ATS in the last 34 meetings, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Oklahoma City.
Two of the hottest teams in the Western Conference collide as the Thunder look for a third straight win over the Jazz this season. The Jazz were in great form before getting stopped by the league-best Warriors in their last outing and the same could be said for the Thunder who stumbled against the Pelicans before the All-Star break. I’m tempted to take the points in what should be a close contest, but the Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings so I’m happy to lay the free basket here.
