The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Sunday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 10 of their last 14 games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling short against the Heat in a 115-109 road loss on Friday. Bradley Beal led the way with a game-high 33 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Trevor Ariza added 21 points and six assists on six of 19 shooting, while Otto Porter Jr. chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line as they cut a nine-point fourth quarter deficit to just one with less than a minute left until the Heat ran away it. With the loss, Washington fell to 15-24 overall and 4-17 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in great form lately as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Trailblazers in a 111-109 road win on Friday. Paul George continued his great form with a game-high 37 points, Russell Westbrook added 31 points with nine rebounds and seven assists while Dennis Schroder and Nerlens Noel each scored 10 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 42 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line but they were able to turn the game on its head in the 36-25 third quarter before holding off a late rally from the Trailblazers. With the win, Oklahoma City improved to 25-13 overall and 12-9 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Thunder are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, the Wizards are 2-6-1 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and 0-3-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Oklahoma City.
The Wizards have been in a world of hurt lately and things haven't gotten better in the absence of John Wall so it's hard to see anything but a win for the red-hot Thunder who have already beaten the Wizards by 134-111 back on Nov 2. The Wizards are only 2-6-1 ATS in the last nine meetings overall while the Thunder are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games. With that being said, I'm sticking with the surging Thunder to stay hot with an easy win and cover at home in this one.
