The Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been playing well as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games but they will be looking to bounce back after having their four-game win streak halted by the Heat in a 115-99 road loss on Thursday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 22 points and five assists, Marcus Smart added 18 points while Marcus Morris and Jayson Tatum each scored 17 points. As a team, the Celtics shot a miserly 40 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line but they were always fighting a losing battle after trailing by as many as 26 points in a forgettable first half. With the bad loss, Boston dropped to 25-16 overall and 10-11 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after falling to the Jazz in a 106-93 road loss on Wednesday. DJ Augustin led the team with 23 points and six assists, Nikola Vucevic added 20 points while Aaron Gordon chipped in with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Magic shot just 39 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to lead by as many as 21 points midway through the second quarter but they couldn’t keep it going as the Jazz ran them down in the second half where they were outscored by 60-30. With the loss, Orlando fell to 17-24 overall and 7-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Magic are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings and the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Celtics have been in great form lately but they started slowly against the Heat in their last outing and got absolutely embarrassed, so they will be keen for a better start and that spells trouble for the Magic who are currently riding an ugly four-game losing streak. These two teams have already met once this season and it was the Magic who won by 93-90 back on Oct 22, so an upset isn’t out of the question here, but the Celtics are 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games against teams with losing records and I think that trend continues as they bounce back here.
