The Orlando Magic play host to the Brooklyn Nets at the Amway Center on Friday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last eight games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Rockets in a 145-142 double overtime road victory on Wednesday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 33 points and 10 assists off the bench, DeMarre Carroll added 22 points, Treveon Graham scored 21 points while Jarrett Allen racked up 20 points with 24 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Nets shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime where they would steal the game despite 58 points from the Rockets’ James Harden. With the impressive win, Brooklyn improved to 23-23 overall and 11-12 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a real slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short against the Pistons in a 120-115 overtime road loss on Wednesday. Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross each scored 24 points, Evan Fournier added 18 points while DJ Augustin chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Magic shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit only to fall short in overtime where they managed just six points. With the loss, Orlando fell to 19-25 overall and 7-14 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a win and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games against a team with a losing road record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings and the Nets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
This will be the first of three meetings between the teams this season and given their current form, I'm not surprised the Magic are slight underdogs at home. The Nets have been one of the surprise teams of the league so far and they're in great form after taking down the red-hot Rockets on the road in their last outing. The Nets are also 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings and I think that streak continues here as they take care of business against the slumping Magic.
