The San Antonio Spurs and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in great form lately as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the 76ers in a 123-96 rout on Monday. Rudy Gay led the team in scoring with 21 points on 10 of 15 shooting, LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan each scored 20 points while Davis Bertans chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Spurs shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and they never looked in danger after taking control of the game in the second quarter where they outscored the 76ers by 31-17. With the dominant win, San Antonio improved to 16-15 on the season and 12-5 at home.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have lost five of their last nine games but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Jazz in a 96-89 win at Mexico City on Saturday. Evan Fournier led the team with 24 points, Terrence Ross provided the spark off the bench with 19 points on eight of nine shooting while Nikola Vucevic racked up 15 points with 19 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Magic shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 24 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 41 points in the fourth quarter to run away with the win after scoring just 33 points in the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four road games, 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Magic are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on three or more days rest and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings and the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings. The Spurs are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Orlando but just 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Spurs were inconsistent at the early stages of the season but they’ve suddenly sprung to life in their last six games. On the offensive end, the Spurs are looking great as they’re doing a great job of sharing the ball but they still haven’t found much success on the road where they’ve won just four of 14 games. The Magic will be full of confidence following their comeback win over the Jazz and they’re a solid 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games. With that being said, this should be a close contest but the Magic beat the Spurs by 117-110 back on Nov 4 and I think they can complete the season sweep with another win here.
