The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks were on a nice roll with five wins from six games, but they’ve since lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after Wednesday’s 116-100 road loss to the Nets. John Collins led the team with 30 points and 14 rebounds, Trae Young added 17 points with seven assists, Jeremy Lin scored 16 points off the bench while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Hawks shot just 36 percent from the field and six of 35 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to lead by as many as 19 points in the second quarter before getting dominated in the second half where they were outscored by 65-43. With the loss, Atlanta fell to 12-29 overall and 5-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in solid form as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games and they will be looking to bounce back after having their four-game win streak snapped by the Wizards in a 123-106 road loss on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 35 points and 14 rebounds, Jimmy Butler added 23 points, Furkan Korkmaz scored 16 points while Ben Simmons racked up 15 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 43 percent from the field and eight of 27 from the 3-point line but they were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the hot-shooting Wizards to take a 63-48 lead going into halftime. With the loss, Philadelphia fell to 27-15 overall and 9-12 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 Friday games. The 76ers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, the Hawks are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia.
The Hawks have been in a real slump and they will be kicking themselves after collapsing against the Nets on Wednesday after leading by as many as 19 points. The 76ers were on a nice run of seven wins in nine outings before getting routed by the Wizards in an upset on Wednesday, so they will be looking to take out their frustrations on the Hawks who they’ve already beaten by 113-92 back on Oct 29. The 76ers aren’t the most reliable team, but they are 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points and I think they bounce back in fine fashion here.
