The New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers collide at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 20 of their last 24 games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Hornets in a 137-128 overtime loss on Monday. Trey Burke led the team with a career-high 42 points with 12 assists, Michael Beasley added 27 points while Tim Hardaway Jr chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the three-point line as they rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit only to lose in overtime as they had no answer for the Hornets’ Kemba Walker who scored 11 of his 31 points in the overtime period. With the loss, New York dropped to 27-48 overall and 9-30 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Nuggets by 123-104 on Monday for their seventh straight win. Joel Embiid led the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds, Dario Saric added 20 points, JJ Redick scored 19 points while Ben Simmons chipped in with seven points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 29 from the three-point line as they absolutely dominated the Nuggets, outscoring them by 72-45 to make it look easy after trailing by as many as 10 points late in the second quarter. With the win, Philadelphia improved to 43-30 overall which is good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a home record above .600 and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the 76ers are 39-19 ATS in their last 58 home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Philadelphia and the Knicks are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Knicks have been struggling mightily and have nothing to play for at this stage of the season, but they did show plenty of fight against the Hornets to force overtime. Meanwhile, the 76ers have been on a roll lately as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 and they’ve been particularly good to bet on lately as they’ve covered in each of their last five games. I think the 76ers stay hot with a big win and cover at home over these slumping Knicks.
