The Phoenix Suns play host to the Houston Rockets at the Talking Stick Resort Arena on Monday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be feeling pretty confident after snapping a two-game skid with a 125-98 road win at Utah on Saturday. James Harden led the team with 43 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, six steals and four blocks, Gerald Green added 25 points off the bench while Kenneth Faired and Austin Rivers each scored 16 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 39 from the 3-point line as they outpaced the Jazz from start to finish despite playing on zero days rest. With the impressive win, Houston improved to 30-22 overall and 11-14 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 17 of their last 19 games and they will be looking to snap an ugly 10-game skid after falling short against the Hawks in a 118-112 home loss on Saturday. Devin Booker led the team with 32 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists, Josh Jackson added 25 points while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 20 points on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Suns shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they kept within touching distance of the Hawks for the entire game until the fourth quarter where Young scored 17 of his 27 points for the Hawks. With the loss, Phoenix dropped to 11-43 overall and 7-20 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Suns are 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings and the Rockets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Phoenix.
These two squads have yet to meet this season, but it’s no surprise that the Rockets are heavy favorites as the road team as Harden has been on quite a scoring streak. The Suns have been competitive as they last two losses have been by a combined eight points but there’s no ignoring that they’ve won just two of their last 19 games. The Rockets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Phoenix and I think that trend continues as the Rockets win easily here.
