The Line: Phoenix -3.5 -- Over/Under 225.5
The New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns do battle at the Talking Stick Resort Arena on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 22 of their last 25 games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling short against the Kings in a 115-108 road loss on Monday. Allonzo Trier led the team with 29 points off the bench, Dennis Smith Jr. added 18 points with five assists while Kevin Knox chipped in with 11 points and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line, but they were always trailing after the Kings stormed out of the gates to an early 11-point lead. With the loss, New York fell to 13-51 on the season and 7-26 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns were in a world of hurt during their 17-game losing streak, but they’ve sprung to life with three wins in their last four outings and are coming into this one fresh off their best win of the season after beating the Bucks by 114-105 at home on Monday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 27 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, Devin Booker added 22 points with seven assists while DeAndre Ayton chipped in with 19 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Suns shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 22 from the 3-point line as it looked like they were headed for another loss after falling behind by 10 points in the fourth quarter before the Suns flipped the script with a 19-7 run. With the impressive win, Phoenix improved to 14-51 overall and 9-23 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record. The Suns are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Phoenix and the Knicks are 4-10-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings.
Knicks fans have been through so much drama this season and they’ve had so little to cheer about lately as they’ve won just three of their last 25 games. The Suns have endured a rough season themselves, but they’re suddenly red-hot with wins over the Heat, Lakers and now Bucks in their last four games. It’s hard to feel too confident betting on either team these days, but the Suns are finally on a nice run and I think they can keep it going with a win and cover at home.
