Atlanta Hawks at Portland Trail Blazers
|Date & Time||Saturday January 26, 2019, 10:05 PM (EST)|
The Line: Portland -10.5 -- Over/Under 228.5
The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games but they will be looking to build on Wednesday’s 121-101 road win at Chicago. John Collins led the team with 35 points on 14 of 16 shooting, Taurean Prince and Jeremy Lin each scored 15 points while Dwayne Dedmon chipped in with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 40 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to lead by as many as 20 points in the second quarter before the Bulls cut that lead to just six points going into halftime. Trae Young shot just one of 12 from the field to finish with five points, but he steered the offense with 12 assists. With the win, Atlanta improved to 15-32 overall and 7-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in great form lately as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Suns in a 120-106 road win on Thursday. Damian Lillard led the team with 24 points, CJ McCollum and Jake Layman each scored 20 points while Seth Curry chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 26 from the 3-point line as they took full advantage of the shorthanded Suns who were without key players in TJ Warren and DeAndre Ayton. It wasn’t all one-way traffic as the Trailblazers couldn’t really break loose until the fourth quarter. With the win, Portland improved to 30-20 overall and 10-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four against the Western Conference and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games following a win of more than 10 points. The Trailblazers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Portland, the under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings overall and the Hawks are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Portland.
These two squads have yet to collide this season but it’s no surprise that the Trailblazers are heavy favorites at home, but it’s not like the Hawks are without a chance as they’ve won four of their last nine games. The Trailblazers have been on a nice run themselves, they’re always tough to beat at the Moda Center and they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record. I’m sticking with the Trailblazers to stay hot with a comfortable win and cover at home in this one.
