The Line: Portland -12.5 -- Over/Under 217.5
The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Moda Center on Wednesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games but they will be feeling pretty good about themselves after snapping an ugly 12-game skid with a 101-95 road win over the Lakers on Sunday. Cedi Osman led the team with 20 points and eight rebounds, Rodney Hood added 18 points, Collin Sexton and Alec Burks each scored 17 points while Tristan Thompson chipped in with 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 42 percent from the field and eight of 21 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t look like a team riding a 12-game losing streak as they took it to the Lakers for 48 minutes and finished on top. With the much-needed win, Cleveland improved to 9-35 overall and 4-18 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their last eight games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Kings in a 115-107 road loss on Monday. Damian Lillard led the team with 35 points and five assists, Evan Turner added 14 points and four assists off the bench while Al-Farouq Aminu and Jake Layman each scored 13 points but they needed a lot more from CJ McCollum who finished with just six points on two of 14 shooting. As a team, the Trailblazers shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as everyone but Lillard struggled to find their shot. With the loss, Portland fell to 26-19 overall and 8-12 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win, 19-39-1 ATS in their last 59 against the Western Conference and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Trailblazers are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Eastern Conference and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss.
Head to head, the under is 8-0 in the last eight meetings in Portland, the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings and the Cavaliers are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Portland.
The Cavaliers were able to snap out of their funk with a hard-fought road win over the Lakers in their last outing, but those kind of performances have been few and far between this season. The Trailblazers will be disappointed with their last two games, but they will be looking to bounce back at home where they’ve won four straight by an average of 15.5 points. The Cavaliers are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Portland and I think that trend continues as the Trailblazers blow them out here.
