The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the Moda Center on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 13 of their last 15 games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling painfully short in a 129-125 overtime home loss to the Pelicans on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with a triple-double of 29 points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points while Dwight Powell chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to have control of the game until late in the fourth quarter where the Pelicans rallied behind Julius Randle who scored 11 points in the final 3:29 of regulation. With the loss, Dallas fell to 28-42 on the season and 22-14 at home.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been on a nice run as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Pacers in a 106-98 home win on Monday. Damian Lillard led the team with 30 points and 15 assists, Jusuf Nurkic added 18 points with 11 rebounds while Al-Farouq Aminu chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-point line as they held off a late rally from the Pacers after building a cushion in the second and third quarters where they outscored the Pacers by a combined 60-41. With the easy win, Portland improved to 43-27 on the season and 26-9 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600 and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The Trailblazers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a road record below .400 and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Portland and the Mavericks are 23-9-1 ATS in the last 33 meetings overall.
The Mavericks look like they are trying to tank for better positioning in the upcoming draft, but it’s like no one told Doncic as the rookie continues to rack up triple-doubles. The Trailblazers were dealt a cruel blow when they lost CJ McCollum, but it didn’t slow them down Monday against the Pacers. The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Portland, but even with McCollum out, I still like the Trailblazers to continue their surge towards the playoffs with a win and cover here.
