Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers
|Date & Time||Sunday April 7, 2019, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Portland -2.5 -- Over/Under 217.5
The Denver Nuggets pay a visit to the Portland Trailblazers at the Moda Center on Sunday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after taking down the red-hot Trailblazers in a 119-110 home win on Friday. Paul Millsap led the team with 25 points on nine of 12 shooting, Jamal Murray added 23 points with six assists while Nikola Jokic chipped in with 22 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 51 percent from the field and seven of 27 from the 3-point line, but in what was a close contest, the Nuggets came through in the fourth quarter as they closed the game on a 11-3 run in the final 2:52. With the win, Denver improved to 53-26 overall and 33-7 at home which is good for second place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 10 of their last 13 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after Friday’s narrow loss to the Nuggets. Enes Kanter led the team in scoring with 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Rodney Hood added 17 points while Jake Layman and Evan Turner each scored 15 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line, but with all the injuries they’ve been dealing with, they needed more production from Damian Lillard who shot just three of 14 to finish with 14 points and eight assists. With the tough loss, Portland fell to 50-29 overall and 20-20 on the road which is currently good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600, 1-4 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a winning home record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a win. The Trailblazers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS loss.
Head to head, the over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings, the favorite is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings and the Nuggets are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Nuggets haven’t been at their best lately, but they blew out the Spurs on Wednesday and are now aiming for a third straight win after beating the Trailblazers on Friday. Lillard will be looking to bounce back after going ice-cold in Friday’s loss and they will like their chances at home where they’re currently riding a six-game win streak. The Nuggets are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings, but I’m leaning towards the Trailblazers to exact revenge with a win and cover at home.
