The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Detroit Pistons at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Suns in a 118-98 road win on Thursday. Wayne Ellington led the team in scoring with 23 points on seven of 11 shooting, Blake Griffin added 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists while Luke Kennard and Andre Drummond each scored 16 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 42 percent from the field but 17 of 42 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Suns in a high-scoring first half, before they ramped up their defense and held the Suns to just 38 points in the second half. With the easy win, Detroit improved to 37-34 overall and 14-21 on the road which is currently good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been on a nice run lately as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after taking down the struggling Mavericks in a 126-118 home win on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 33 points and 12 assists, Seth Curry provided the spark off the bench with 20 points while Enes Kanter chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they dominated the Mavericks to lead by as many as 25 points in the fourth quarter before they pulled their starters. With the win, Portland improved to 44-27 overall and 27-9 at home which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600 and the Pistons are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Trailblazers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record, 39-19 ATS in their last 58 home games and 23-8 ATS in their last 31 against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings, the Pistons are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Pistons are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Portland.
The Pistons look to be peaking at just the right time as they’re stringing the wins together now and they looked great in their big win over the Suns on Thursday. The Trailblazers have been playing great basketball themselves, especially considering they’ve been shorthanded and they’re also 5-2 ATS in the last seven home meetings against the Pistons. This one really could go either way, but the Trailblazers have been on a roll, especially at home and I think that trend continues as they get another hard-fought win here.
