The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Moda Center on Wednesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a real funk lately as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to halt a three-game skid after falling to the Warriors in a 110-93 rout on Monday. Omri Casspi led the team in scoring with 20 points off the bench, Marc Gasol added 15 points with six assists while Kevin Anderson chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 45 percent from the field but they were always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 61-38 in the first half. Mike Conley sat out the game with a hamstring injury and is considered questionable for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Clippers in a 131-127 road win on Monday. Damian Lillard drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 39 points, CJ McCollum added 27 points while Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 20 oints and seven assists. As a team, the Trailblazers shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and 10 of 20 from the 3-point line as they held on for the narrow win after the Clippers cut a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to just one point with 18.8 seconds left in the game. With the win, Portland improved to 17-13 overall and 6-9 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Trailblazers are 27-10 ATS in their last 37 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Portland.
The Grizzlies have been playing well below their best lately and I don’t like their chances of turning it around if Conley isn’t able to play in this one. The Trailblazers haven’t been a pillar on consistency but they’re starting to turn things around with wins over the Raptors and now the Clippers, so I like where they’re going. With that being said, the Trailblazers are starting to heat up and I think they can keep it going with a win and cover in this one.
