The Line: Portland -7.5 -- Over/Under 213
The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Miami Heat at the Moda Center on Tuesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a slump lately as they’ve lost five of their last seven games and they will be looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling to the shorthanded Pacers in a 95-88 home loss on Saturday. Dwyane Wade led the team with 21 points and four assists off the bench, Hassan Whiteside added 19 points with 14 rebounds while Josh Richardson and Kelly Olynyk each scored 14 points. As a team, the Heat shot 42 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line but their offense fell to pieces in the second half where they were outscored by 42-34. With the loss, Miami fell to 24-27 overall and 11-16 at home.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Jazz in a 132-105 home win on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 36 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, CJ McCollum added 30 points on 12 of 17 shooting while Meyers Leonard chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 45 points in the first quarter before cruising in the second half where they led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter. With the win, Portland improved to 32-20 overall and 22-7 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 12-5 ATS in their last 17 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Trailblazers are 9-0 ATS in their last nine games playing on three or more days rest, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings, the Heat are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Portland.
The Heat really have fallen off the pace lately as they’ve lost three in a row, two of which came against the lowly Bulls and the Pacers. The Trailblazers have really started to pick up momentum with McCollum picking up his production and they will be confident here as they are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings. With that being said, I’m staying with the Trailblazers to get the win and cover at home.
