Phoenix Suns at Portland Trail Blazers
|Date & Time||Saturday March 9, 2019, 10:05 PM (EST)|
The Line: Portland -12.5 -- Over/Under 229.5
The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Phoenix Suns at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Phoenix Suns were the doormats of the league for most of the season, but they've suddenly sprung to life and are now looking for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Knicks in a 107-96 home win on Wednesday. Devin Booker led the team with 41 points on 14 of 23 shooting, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 18 points while Tyler Johnson chipped in with 14 points and six assists. As a team, the Suns shot 48 percent from and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they fell into an early hole against the Knicks before taking over the game in the third quarter where they outscored the Knicks by 32-17 to lead by as many as 19 points. With the impressive win, Phoenix improved to 15-51 on the season and 10-23 at home.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in nice form as they've won six of their last nine games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the Thunder in a 129-121 overtime loss on Thursday. Damian Lillard exploded for a season-high 51 points with nine assists on 15 of 28 shooting, CJ McCollum added 25 points while Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 13 points and 17 rebounds. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 39 percent from the field and nine of 41 from the 3-point line, but with Nurkic getting ejected in the last minute of regulation, the momentum was with the Thunder who ran away with it in the end. With the tough loss, Portland fell to 39-26 on the season and 24-9 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win or more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Trailblazers are 38-17 ATS in their last 55 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team below .400 and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Portland and the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
The Trailblazers need a win to get their season back on track following two losses on the trot and they will like their chances against the league-worst Suns who they've already beaten by double-digits twice this season. The Trailblazers are 38-17 ATS in their last 55 home games while the Suns are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, but with this many free points, I'm willing to take the resurgent Suns to make this one competitive till the end.
