The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Utah Jazz at the Moda Center on Sunday night.
The Utah Jazz have been red-hot lately as they will be gunning for a season-high ninth straight win after taking down the Hornets in a 106-94 home win on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 25 points on eight of 21 shooting, Joe Ingles added a career-high 23 points and six assists while Rudy Gobert finished with a double-double of 20 points with 11 rebounds. As a team, the Jazz shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the three-point line but despite leading by nine points at halftime, it really came down to the fourth quarter where the Jazz went on a 16-5 run to put the Hornets away. With the win, Utah improved to 27-28 overall and 16-9 at home.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have won nine of their past 13 games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after blowing past the Kings in a 118-100 road win on Friday. Damian Lillard led from the front with a season-high 50 points on 16 of 26 shooting in just 29 minutes of action, Maurice Harkless added 15 points while Shabazz Napier chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Blazers shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the three-point line, but this game was really all about Lillard who simply put on a show for three quarters. With the win, Portland improved to 31-25 overall and 15-15 on the road where they’ve split their last six games.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. Meanwhile, the Trailblazers are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 8-0 ATS in the last eight meetings, the over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings in Portland and the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Portland.
These two teams are scheduled to meet twice this week but they've already met once this season as the Jazz beat the Trailblazers by 112-103 in overtime on Nov 1. despite 33 points from Lillard. The Blazers have been playing well lately and Lillard is coming into this one fresh off a 50-point performance, but even though the home team has covered in each of the last eight meetings, I'm sticking with the red-hot Jazz to get the win and cover as they've been playing their best basketball of the season lately.
