The Line: Sacramento -3 -- Over/Under 213.5
The Sacramento Kings play host to the Miami Heat at the Golden 1 Center on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have fallen off the pace lately as they’ve won just four of their last 11 games, but they will be breathing a sigh of relief after snapping a three-game skid with a hard-fought 118-108 road win at Portland on Tuesday. Hassan Whiteside led the team with 28 points on 11 of 12 shooting, Dwyane Wade provided the spark off the bench with 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists while Josh Richardson chipped in with 18 points on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Heat shot 54 percent from the field and seven of 22 from the 3-point line as they came out firing against the Trailblazers to lead by as many as 15 points in the third quarter until the Trailblazers rallied in the fourth quarter. With the much-needed win, Miami improved to 25-27 overall and 14-11 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in great form lately as they’ve won four of their last six games, but they will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Rockets in a 127-101 home loss on Wednesday. Buddy Hield led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Nemanja Bjelica added 15 points while Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in with 13 points and three assists. As a team, the Kings shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line but the writing was on the wall before halftime as the Rockets outscored the Kings by 44-17 in the second quarter to put the game out of reach early. With the loss, Sacramento fell to 28-26 overall and 17-11 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 27-9-1 ATS in their last 37 road games against a team with a home record above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Kings are 8-1 ATS in their last nine home games, 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings, the Heat are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Sacramento and the Heat are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Heat haven’t been anywhere near their best lately, but they looked great in their upset road win over the Trailblazers on Tuesday, so they’ll be looking to keep it going here. The Kings have been one of the surprise teams of the league so far, but they got embarrassed by the Rockets by 26 points at home on Wednesday, so they’ll be eager to atone for that one. The Kings are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings and they had covered in eight straight home games before Wednesday, so I’m sticking with the Kings to bounce back in this one.
