The Line: Sacramento Kings -9.5 -- Over/Under: 231
The Phoenix Suns pay a visit to the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 20 of their last 22 games and they will be hoping to snap a 13-game losing streak after falling short against the Warriors in a 117-107 home loss on Friday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team in scoring with 25 points, 12 rebounds and four assists off the bench, DeAndre Ayton added 23 points with 12 rebounds while Josh Jackson and Miles Bridges each scored 19 points. As a team, the Suns shot just 38 percent from the field and six of 31 from the 3-point line as they took it to the Warriors to lead by six points in the fourth quarter until the Warriors went on a decisive 13-0 run to steal the game. With the loss, Phoenix fell to 11-46 overall and 7-22 at home.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in great form as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be looking to stay hot after coming back from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to take down the Heat in a 102-96 home win on Friday. Buddy Hield led the team with 23 points, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 16 points off the bench while Harrison Barnes and De’Aaron Fox each scored 12 points. As a team, the Kings shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they trailed the Heat for most of the game until the fourth quarter where they held the Heat to just 13 points. With the win, Sacramento improved to 29-26 overall and 18-11 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a double-digit loss at home and 0-5 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win. The Kings are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, the underdog is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the Suns are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Sacramento.
The Phoenix Suns have won four of the last six meetings against the Sacramento Kings, but this current squad is losing by an average of 10.8 points in their last five games and 12.6 points on the road. While capable of a surprise performance here and there, it's much more protifiable to fade the Suns, as they get blown out more times than not. If the Kings are serious about making the playoffs, they need to win games like this and probably win big. It's Kings and the chalk or pass.
