The Line: Sacramento -10 -- Over/Under 231
The Phoenix Suns pay a visit to the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center on Saturday night.
The Phoenix Suns sprung to life with five wins during a seven-game stretch, but it looks like they’re back to their old selves as they’ve lost four of their last five after Thursday’s 118-98 home loss to the Pistons. Devin Booker led the team with 26 points on eight of 17 shooting, DeAndre Ayton added 20 points while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Suns shot 47 percent from the field and seven of 26 from the 3-point line as they took the halftime lead against the Pistons, but they fell to pieces in the second half where the Pistons outscored them by 60-38. With the loss, Phoenix fell to 17-56 on the season and 10-26 at home.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in a bit of a slump lately as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after taking down the slumping Mavericks in a 116-100 home loss on Thursday. Buddy Hield led the team with 29 points and four assists, Marvin Bagley III added 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks off the bench while Harrison Barnes and De’Aaron Fox scored 16 and 15 points respectively. As a team, the Kings shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled early, before pulling away in the second half where they outscored the Mavericks by 63-49. With the win, Sacramento improved to 35-36 on the season and 22-15 at home which is good for ninth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Kings are 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 home games, 18-6 ATS in their last 24 games against a team with a losing record and the Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings, the home team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings and the Suns are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Sacramento.
The Kings lead the season series by 2-1 and both of their wins came by double-digits, so I’m not surprised that they are heavily favoured in this one. The Suns showed signs of life at the start of the month, but three of their last four losses have come by 15 points or more and I think that trend continues here as the Kings get this much-needed win to stay in the hunt for that eighth seed in the Western Conference.
