The Denver Nuggets invade the AT&T Center to battle the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been one of the hottest teams in the league lately as they've won 11 of their last 14 games but they will be looking to bounce back after having their four-game win streak snapped by the Clippers in a 132-111 road loss on Saturday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 19 points, Jamal Murray added 18 points while Trey Lyles chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 42 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line but the real problem was their defense as they allowed the Clippers to outscore them by an astounding 80-50 in points in the paint. With the loss, Denver fell to 21-10 overall and 8-7 on the road.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs look to be on a nice roll with seven wins in their last nine games but they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak snapped by the Rockets in a 108-101 road loss on Saturday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points while Rudy Gay chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 24 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control of the game when they held the Rockets to just 13 points in the second quarter, but the Spurs just didn't have a response in the third quarter where the Rockets outscored them by 43-26. With the loss, San Antonio fell to 18-16 on the season and 5-11 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record, 7-1 ATS in their last eight against the Western Conference and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Spurs are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 22-8 ATS in their last 30 home games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 26-11 ATS in the last 37 meetings, the Nuggets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio.
Two of the hottest teams in the league collide for the first time this season as the Nuggets visit the Spurs. The Spurs have really turned the corner with the recent play but they are probably still wondering what happened against the Rockets in their last outing. With Jokic leading the way, the Nuggets have become one of the dark horses in the Western Conference but they're coming off their worst loss of the season so I'm looking at them to come out strong. This should be a close one, but I'm leaning towards the Spurs to get the job done at home.
