TNT, ATSW, TSN
The Houston Rockets pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in red-hot form lately as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games and they will be gunning for a sixth straight victory after taking down the Celtics in a 115-104 road win on Sunday. James Harden led the way with 42 points on 14 of 31 shooting, Eric Gordon drained eight 3-pointers to finish with 32 points while Chris Paul chipped in with 15 points and 12 assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and 21 of 51 from the 3-point line as they dominated the Celtics in the early going to take a 65-43 lead going into halftime before holding on in the fourth quarter without Harden who fouled out. With the win, Houston improved to 38-25 overall and 16-16 on the road which is currently good for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been on a great run themselves as they’ve won nine of their last 11 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after falling just short against the Pistons in a 112-107 overtime loss on Sunday. Kyle Lowry knocked down six 3-pointers to lead the team with a season-high 35 points with five assists while Pascal Siakam chipped in with 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Raptors shot just 38 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line, but you could really see they missed their closer in Kawhi Leonard who was rested for this one, just a couple days after he was clutch in Friday’s win at Portland. With the tough loss, Toronto fell to 46-18 overall and 19-12 on the road which is good for second place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a win, 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 against the Eastern Conference and 6-13-1 ATS in the last 20 games overall. The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last six meetings, the home team is 16-6-1 ATS in the last 23 meetings and the Rockets are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto.
These two teams last met on Jan 25 and it was the Rockets who won by 121-119 at home, so the Raptors will be eager to exact their revenge in this one. The Rockets have really been heating up lately as they’ve claimed road victories over the Warriors and the Celtics during this win streak, so another road win over another playoff-bound team would do wonders for their confidence. However, the Raptors have been one of the form teams of the league and the Rockets are just 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto. Both teams are just on fire at the moment so it’s hard to split them, so I’m taking any points I can get in this one.
