The Brooklyn Nets and the Utah Jazz collide at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn Nets were on a nice little run as they had reeled off four straight wins before getting stopped by the Thunder in a 108-96 road loss on Wednesday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 25 points off the bench, D’Angelo Russell added 14 points with seven assists while Joe Harris chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Nets shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they started hot against the Thunder to take a 10-point lead going into halftime, but they couldn’t keep up in the second half where the Thunder rallied behind Russell Westbrook and Paul George to outscore them by 66-44. With the loss, Brooklyn fell to 36-34 overall and 15-18 on the road which is good for seventh in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in form as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after blowing past the Timberwolves in a 120-100 home win on Thursday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 24 points and six assists, Jae Crowder added 18 points off the bench while Derrick Favors chipped in with 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Jazz shot 49 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they jumped out to an early double-digit lead before blowing the score in the fourth quarter. With the easy win, Utah improved to 39-29 overall and 22-12 at home which is good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 17-8-2 ATS in their last 27 games playing on one days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Utah, the Nets are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings in Utah and the Nets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
It’s going to be tough for the Nets to hang with the Jazz, but they are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and they haven’t played since Wednesday. The Jazz are clearly the team in better form, but they are just 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. I’m tempted to take the Jazz in a blowout as they are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings, but the Nets will be well-rested and I think they can keep this one close.
