The Line: Utah -15 -- Over/Under 214.5
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz duke it out at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in rough shape for a long while now as they’ve lost 13 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting blown out by the Trailblazers in a 129-112 road loss on Wednesday. Jordan Clarkson led the team with 22 points, Rodney Hood added 20 points while Ante Zizic chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and six of 19 from the 3-point line as they hung around with the Trailblazers for most of the game until the third quarter where the Trailblazers made a run to lead by as many as 21 points. With the loss, Cleveland fell to 9-36 overall and 4-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in great form lately as they’ve won seven of their last eight games and they will be gunning for a sixth straight win after blowing past the Clippers in a 129-109 road win on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 28 points and six assists, Rudy Gobert racked up 23 points with 22 rebounds and four blocks while Jae Crowder provided the spark off the bench with 23 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 51 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they dominated the game to lead by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter before the reserves came in. With the win, Utah improved to 25-21 overall and 13-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 19-40-1 ATS in their last 60 games against the Western Conference, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Jazz are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games against a team with a road record below .400.
Head to head, the under is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings, the Cavaliers are 0-6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Utah.
The Cavaliers were able to pull off that impressive upset against the Lakers but they fell back down to Earth with a blowout loss to the Trailblazers in their last outing. The Jazz have been on a nice run lately as they've won seven of their last eight and they have owned the Cavaliers in terms of betting trends as they are 6-0-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall, so I'm looking for those trends to continue here as the Jazz should be way too good at home.
