The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz duke it out at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Monday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a real funk lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling short against the Clippers in a 118-110 road loss on Friday. Russell Westbrook led the team with 32 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Paul George added 15 points on five of 16 shooting while Dennis Schroder chipped in with 15 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Thunder shot just 40 percent from the field and 11 of 44 from the 3-point line as they wrestled the Clippers in a scrappy affair littered with fouls, but when the game tightened up, it was the Clippers who had the last laugh as they closed the game on a 10-3 run. With the loss, Oklahoma City fell to 40-26 overall and 18-17 on the road which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been on a nice run as they’ve won five of their last seven games, but they will be looking to bounce back after falling short against the Grizzlies in a 114-104 road loss on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 38 points and five assists, Joe Ingles added 14 points with seven assists while Kyle Korver chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Jazz shot 42 percent from the field and 18 of 48 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t match the intensity of the Grizzlies and just couldn’t get stops in the fourth quarter where they were outscored by 30-25. With the loss, Utah fell to 37-28 overall and 16-17 on the road which is good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Jazz are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss, 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 Monday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings in Utah and the Thunder are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Thunder really need a win to get their season back on track as they’ve really fallen off the pace with six losses in their last eight games and they will like their chances against the Jazz who they’ve already beaten in three close encounters this season. In fact, the last two meetings resulted in one-point victories for the Thunder, so it hasn’t been as one-sided as it appears. With that being said, the Thunder have been in a slump so this looks like a great opportunity for the Jazz to avoid the season sweep with a narrow home win in this one.
