The Utah Jazz play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers haven't been playing anywhere near their best as they've lost four of their last seven games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short against the Celtics in a 121-114 overtime loss on Christmas Day. Joel Embiid led the way with 34 points and 16 rebounds and two blocks, Jimmy Butler added 24 points, JJ Redick scored 17 points while Ben Simmons chipped in with 11 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 41 percent and 15 of 40 from the 3-point line but they couldn't find the basket when it mattered as they managed just six points in overtime and they couldn't stop the Celtics' Kyrie Irving who torched them for 40 points. With the loss, Philadelphia fell to 22-13 on the season and 6-10 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz are starting to build some momentum with three wins in their last four games and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Trailblazers by 117-96 on Christmas Day. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 19 points, Rudy Gobert dominated the game with 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks while Joe Ingles and Dante Exum each scored 15 points. As a team, the Jazz shot a healthy 55 percent from the field while holding the Trailblazers to just 39 percent shooting as they never looked in danger after taking a 12-point lead going into halftime. With the impressive win, Utah improved to 17-18 on the season and 7-7 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a loss and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games. The Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and the 76ers are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Utah.
These teams last met on Nov 16 and it was the 76ers who won by 113-107 behind 28 points from Butler. The 76ers are only 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games while the Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games. I'm expecting another close contest, but I'm favoring the Jazz who have really started to heat up lately with a win over the Warriors and two wins over the Trailblazers in their last four outings.
