The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in poor form lately as they’ve lost six of their last eight games, but they will be feeling a little better after snapping a five-game skid with a hard-fought 124-121 road win at Phoenix on Wednesday. Bradley Beal led the team with 28 points and four assists, Jabari Parker added 28 points of his own, Jordan McRae added 21 points while Thomas Bryant chipped in with 18 points and 19 rebounds. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and nine of 25 from the 3-point line but they really had to fight till the end to keep pace with the Suns’ Devin Booker who poured in 50 points. With the tough win, Washington improved to 31-45 overall and 9-29 on the road which is only good for 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in great shape as they’ve won eight of their last nine games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after beating the Lakers by 115-100 at home on Wednesday. Rudy Gobert led the team with 22 points and 11 rebounds, Derrick Favors added 20 points while Jae Crowder chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead in the first quarter, before putting the game out of reach in the third quarter where they held the Lakers to just 18 points. With the easy win, Utah improved to 45-30 overall and 25-12 at home which is currently good for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on one days rest and 7-2 ATS in their last nine against the Western Conference. The Jazz are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings, the Wizards are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Utah.
The Wizards have been in a slump lately and they were somewhat lucky to escape Phoenix with a narrow win after allowing Booker to score 50 points, so it just seems like a bad time for them to meet the red-hot Jazz who have won eight of their last nine games, with all of those wins coming by double digits. The Wizards are just 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Jazz stay red-hot with another big win and cover at home.
