The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape by their standards as they’ve won three of their last six games and they will be looking to build on Saturday’s 118-112 road win at Phoenix. John Collins led the team with 35 points, 16 rebounds and two assists, Trae Young added 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Dwayne Dedmon chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the 3-point line but in a close game, they went on a decisive 12-2 run with three minutes left in the fourth quarter to pull away late. With the win, Atlanta improved to 17-35 overall and 9-22 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games and they will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Bucks in a 131-115 home loss on Saturday. Bradley Beal led the team with 24 points, Otto Porter Jr. added 18 points while Jeff Green provided the spark off the bench with 20 points on six of 17 shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got blown off the court in the second half after falling behind by double digits early. The Wizards weren’t too bad on the offensive end as six players finished in double figures, but there was no stopping the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo who torched them for 37 points. With the loss, Washington fell to 22-30 overall and 16-10 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win. The Wizards are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Washington and the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Wizards currently lead the regular season series by 2-1 with both of their wins coming by double digits, but the Hawks have shown glimpses of their potential and they’re starting to win a few upsets. I’m tempted to go with the Hawks, but I feel the smart money is with the Wizards who are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games.
