The Line: Washington -11 -- Over/Under 227.5
The Chicago Bulls pay a visit to the nation’s capital to battle the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 12 of their last 15 games and they will be hoping to put a halt to a five-game skid after falling short against the lowly Knicks in a 113-105 road loss on Monday. Robin Lopez led the team with 29 points on 12 of 18 shooting, JaKarr Sampson added 22 points on eight of 10 shooting off the bench while Ryan Arcidiacono chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Bulls shot 44 percent from the field and four of 17 from the 3-point line, but they always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 37-19 in the first quarter. With the tough loss, Chicago fell to 21-57 overall and 12-27 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in rough shape as well as they’ve lost six of their last eight games, but they will be feeling pretty good about themselves after upsetting the playoff-bound Nuggets in a 95-90 road win on Sunday. Troy Brown Jr. led the team with 24 points, Thomas Bryant added 20 points with 14 rebounds and three blocks, Jabari Parker added 20 points while Bradley Beal chipped in with 17 points and six assists. As a team, the Wizards shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 24 from the 3-point line, but the key to this win was their defense as they held the Nuggets to a season-low 28 points in the second half to escape with the unlikely win after trailing by as many as 15 points in the second quarter. With the much-needed win, Washington improved to 32-46 overall and 10-30 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games playing on one days rest, 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 home games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team below .400 and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings, the Bulls are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Washington and the Bulls are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Bulls are just looking for the regular season to end as evidenced by their lackluster showing against the lowly Knicks on Monday, while the Wizards are looking to play spoiler as we saw in their shock upset win over the Nuggets. The Bulls are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Washington, but the Wizards are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 home games and they haven’t played since Sunday. With the news that Beal ranks himself as the second best shooting guard in the league, I expect him to come out with a big game in a win for the Wizard as I don't see the severely shorthanded Bulls hanging around too long.
