The Washington Wizards play host to the Sacramento Kings at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in rough shape as they’ve lost six of their last nine games, but they will be feeling a little better after taking down the Knicks in a 102-94 road win on Saturday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 30 points and eight assists, Buddy Hield added 19 points while Nemanja Bjelica chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Kings shot just 37 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the 3-point line as they escaped with the narrow win after squandering a 12-point lead before Fox steadied them down the stretch. With the much-needed win, Sacramento improved to 33-32 on the season and 13-18 on the road which is currently good for ninth place in the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a bit of a slump themselves as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the Timberwolves in a 135-130 overtime road loss on Saturday. Bradley Beal led the team with 36 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, Trevor Ariza added 27 points while Bobby Portis chipped in with 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 16 of 44 from the 3-point line as Beal sent the game into overtime with a clutch buzzer-beating 3-pointer, only to fall short in the extra period despite the Timberwolves losing Karl-Anthony Towns to injury in the fourth quarter. With the tough loss, Washington fell to 27-39 overall and 8-27 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The Wizards are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 9-1-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings, the Kings are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Kings are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
The Kings beat the Wizards by 116-112 in the last meeting back on Oct 26, but so much has happened since then as the Kings are on the cusp of a playoff berth while the Wizards never looked like contenders this season. Neither team have been at their best lately and it’s really hard to split these two teams, but the Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and a win here would mean more to them than to the Wizards, so that’s where I’m leaning here.
