The Washington Wizards play host to the Toronto Raptors at the Capital One Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Toronto Raptors have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after blowing past the Nets in a 122-105 home win on Friday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Pascal Siakam added 16 points while Serge Ibaka chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled early against the Nets, but they were never in danger after taking control of the game in the second quarter where they outscored the Nets by 36-18. The Raptors made a total of 32 assists as a team while the bench combined for 60 points. With the win, Toronto improved to 32-12 overall and 18-4 at home.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in decent form lately as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the shorthanded Bucks in a 113-106 home win on Friday. Bradley Beal led the team with 32 points and seven assists, Trevor Ariza and Jeff Green each scored 20 points while Tomas Satoransky racked up a triple-double of 18 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 18 of 33 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Bucks early with 40 points in the first quarter before rallying in the fourth quarter to finish on top in an upset. With the win, Washington improved to 18-25 overall and 13-7 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record. The Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the favorite is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings, the home team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings and the Raptors are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Raptors have been on a nice run lately and they’re only going to get better with Kyle Lowry back in the starting lineup. The Wizards team have been in great form since John Wall went down for the season and they will be confident after taking down the shorthanded Bucks on Friday. The Wizards are also 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall, but I think their run ends here as the fully loaded Raptors should be too much for them.
