The Line: Washington +4 -- Over/Under 228.5
The Utah Jazz and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Nets in a 114-98 home win on Saturday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 24 points and four assists, Rudy Gobert dominated the paint with 24 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks while Derrick Favors chipped in with 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Jazz shot 42 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they cruised to victory after outscoring the Nets in the first half by 59-42. With the easy win, Utah improved to 40-29 overall and 23-12 at home which is good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in decent shape themselves as they’ve won six of their past 10 games and they will be looking to keep things rolling after taking down the Grizzlies in a 135-128 home win on Saturday. Bradley Beal drained nine 3-pointers on his way to 40 points with seven assists, Jabari Parker added 20 points with 11 rebounds, Bobby Portis scored 18 points while Jeff Green and Tomas Satoranksy each scored 15 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 50 percent from the field and 17 of 35 from the 3-point line, but in an old-fashioned shootout, it was the Wizards’ defense in the fourth quarter that was key as they held the Grizzlies to just 25 points in the fourth after allowing 71 points in the first half. With the win, Washington improved to 30-40 overall and 22-13 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record. The Wizards are 5-0 in their last five games against the Western Conference, the Wizards are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the Jazz are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Jazz are 11-5-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Washington.
The Jazz have been on a nice run lately, even when playing away from home as they are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. The Wizards haven’t been consistent, but they’ve been able to win games sporadically with Beal leading the way. The Jazz are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the line just seems a little too short for a team playing as well as the Jazz.
