School: Kentucky Wildcats
Position: Defensive End
Career Stats: 247 tackles, 23.5 sacks, one interception and four forced fumbles.
Strengths: Alvin Dupree is one of the most athletic players in this draft, as he posted a 42-inch vertical jump and 138-inch broad jump at the NFL combine. Along with that freakish ability, Dupree has a relentless motor and uses his hands fairly well. Dupree does a good job of setting the edge and can chase down ball carriers from sideline-to-sideline. Alvin Dupree has shown the ability to hold his own his pass coverage and could play either in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense. Dupree is also a good kid off the field with no character issues you have to worry about.
Weaknesses: I’d like to see Alvin Dupree drop a little weight if he’s going to be an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Dupree relies a little too much on pure athleticism and could be a little stronger in the upper-body. Dupree has limited pass-rush moves and is still quite raw when it comes to rushing the passer overall.
Projection: Alvin Dupree is still a raw player who is only to improve, which is wildly intriguing for any team considering taking him in the draft. Dupree will add some spark on the defensive side of the ball and could play either linebacker or defensive end. I’d select Dupree in the late first or early second round just off his athleticism alone.
