Dante Fowler Jr.

School: Florida Gators

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 261

Position: Outside Linebacker

Career Stats: 73 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.

Strengths: Dante Fowler picked up a ton of experience and versatility in his career at Florida, as he lined up at defensive end, defensive tackle and outside linebacker. Fowler can do many things on the football field with his instincts and overall elite athleticism. Fowler isn’t going to wow you with his power and strength, but his first step, great motor and relentless pursuit allows him to live in the backfield and make tons of plays on the ballcarrier. It’s really tough to block Dante Fowler one-on-one, as his quickness and ability to turn the corner is up there with some of the best. Fowler can really take over games when he’s feeling it.

Weaknesses: Fowler can sometimes struggle against the running game. I’d also like to see Fowler put on a few more pounds to help him get stronger at the point of attack and not have to rely so much on his quickness. There’s also some questions regarding Fowler’s main position and if he can contribute at a high level right away considering he spent so much time bouncing around through his college career. While he’ll likely be a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, Fowler has yet to master the position due to spending lots of time on the defensive line.

Projection: We have yet to see the best of Dante Fowler, which is mighty intriguing. Fowler has a ton of upside and athleticism that has many coaches drooling. Fowler is somebody who could consistently give you double-digit sacks once he figures things out. After his performance at the combine, there’s no way Dante Fowler isn’t selected within the Top 10.
