Devin Funchess

School: Michigan Wolverines

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 232

Position: Tight End

Career Stats: 126 receptions, 1,715 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

Strengths: Devin Funchess brings a lot of versatility to an offense, as he has experience lining up as both a tight end and a wide receiver. Funchess’ tall frame makes him an ideal target in the red zone, as he’s athletic and does a solid job of leaping and attacking the football. Funchess had an impressive 38.5 inch vertical at the NFL combine. Funchess makes for a great security blanket and doesn’t mind going across the middle of the field to make the tough catches. Devin Funchess has shown he can consistently beat press coverage with his size and has decent speed to where he can make the occasional play downfield. Funchess has no real off-the-field issues to worry about.

Weaknesses: Devin Funchess isn’t the best pass catcher in the world, as he dropped 20 passes in his three-year career at Michigan and doesn’t do a great job of catching the ball with his hands. Let’s a lot of passes into his body. Funchess could also add some weight to his somewhat smallish frame.

Projection: Devin Funchess is a player I’d consider drafting as early as the third round, as he has a very high ceiling and could be a matchup nightmare at the next level. Funchess is a big target who has the athleticism to contribute if he can just fix his issue with dropped passes. Funchess could be a real steal, but he could also be a high reach if he doesn’t improve his inconsistencies.
