The Line: San Francisco 49ers -2 -- Over/Under: 41.5
The San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers play Saturday night at Levi's Stadium.
The San Diego Chargers have won three of their last five games and remain in the wild card hunt. Philip Rivers is completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Rivers has two touchdowns and three picks in his last two games, and the Chargers have 48 passing plays of 20 or more yards. Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd have combined for more than 1,500 receiving yards and nine touchdowns while Antonio Gates has 18 of his 58 receptions in the last three weeks. The Chargers ground game is averaging 3.3 yards per carry, as Branden Oliver leads the way with 458 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, the San Diego Chargers are allowing 21 points, 336.8 yards, and they’ve forced 20 sacks and 15 turnovers. Eric Weddle leads San Diego with 99 tackles and Corey Liuget has 10 tackles for loss.
The San Francisco 49ers have split their last six games and are pretty much out of the playoff convo. Colin Kaepernick is completing 60.5 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Kaepernick has one touchdown and four picks in his last three games, and the 49ers have 45 passing plays of 20 or more yards. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree have combined for more than 1,500 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Brandon Lloyd has two of his 13 receptions in his last two games. The 49ers ground game is averaging 4.1 yards per carry but Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde are questionable with injuries. Defensively, the San Francisco 49ers are allowing 20.4 points, 307.1 yards, and they’ve forced 32 sacks and 23 turnovers. Chris Borland leads the 49ers with 107 tackles and Ahmad Brooks has six sacks.
The Chargers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The 49ers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
I can't pick the San Francisco 49ers here simply due to their offense that has been brutal for much of the season. Kapernick is all over the place and is having trouble completing even the easiest passes. Give me the Chargers, as the plus money here is too good to pass up against a 49ers team on a downward spiral.
