The Arizona Cardinals and the Washington Redskins face off on Sunday in Arizona for a NFC NFL matchup.
The Arizona Cardinals are coming off of their first loss of the season as they just didn’t have the offense to keep up with the Broncos in Denver. The Cardinals are 3-1 for the season and sit in first place in the competitive NFC West. With Carson Palmer out Drew Stanton took over at QB but now he is dinged up and if he can’t go it will be Logan Thomas who has completed just one of his eight pass attempts but the completion went for an 81 yard touchdown. And the Cards as a team haven’t thrown one interception all season. Andre Ellington is the Cardinals ground game averaging 3.8 yards per carry and he has 13 receptions but the running game has been a pain point for they Cardinals for years. Larry Fitzgerald has 13 receptions and Michael Floyd has 12 as the Arizona passing attack hasn’t done much. Arizona is plus fur in turnover ratio and they are one of the best teams in the NFL against the run. Tony Jefferson has 31 tackles, Larry Foote has 27 tackles, and Jerraud Powers has two interceptions but the defense is without Calais Campbell who was the victim of a cheap shot last week against the Broncos. Arizona will need to overcome their injuries as every win is going to be needed in the NFC West.
The Washington Redskins have just one win thus far this season as they have played hard but they have also played a tough schedule. Kirk Cousins is still at QB and while many gushed over him initially the numbers say he has completed just over 61 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and five interceptions. Alfred Morris has earned the tough yards gaining 4.1 yards per carry with three touchdowns then the Skins bring in a fresh Roy Helu to see if he can do some damage late. Pierre Garcon has 26 receptions to lead the Washington receivers while Niles Paul has 22 catches and DeSean Jackson has 20 catches. The Redskins are minus five in turnover ratio and defensively Keenan Robinson is the leading tackler with 38, Ryan Kerrigan has 6.0 sacks, and Perry Riley has 29 tackles. Washington hasn’t backed down from anyone but they have simply been beaten in each of their losses.
Arizona is 4-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 6-1 against the spread against the NFC, and 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games. Washington is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games, 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games, and 4-12 against the spread against the NFC. Washington is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games in Arizona.
