The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons will square off Thursday night at the Georgia Dome.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost two heartbreakers to begin the season and simply aren’t getting enough offense to get over the hump. Quarterback Josh McCown is completing 67.9 percent of his passes but has tossed three interceptions and leads a Tampa Bay offense that ranks 31st in the league in passing yards. As if that weren’t enough, running back Doug Martin missed last week with a leg injury and remains day-to-day. The Buccaneers have just scored 31 combined points in their first two games, which is putting a ton of pressure on their defense to get stops on a consistent basis. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense is allowing 336.5 yards, which is in the middle of the pack right now. Dashon Goldson leads the Bucs with 20 tackles and Lavonte David has three tackles for loss.

The Atlanta Falcons were crushed on the road last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, falling to a 1-1 record. While Matt Ryan gives the Falcons the second best passing offense in the NFL and is completing 63.2 percent of his passes, the Falcons lack a serious running threat and seem to be a one dimensional offense right now. The Falcons have just one rushing touchdown in their first two games and Steven Jackson hasn’t gotten off to a great start with 98 rushing yards. The main concern for the Atlanta Falcons is its defense that is allowing teams to complete 68.2 percent of their passes and rank 31st in the league in passing yards allowed. The Falcons are also allowing 154.5 rushing yards per game, which is another red flag. Paul Worrilow leads the Falcons with 29 tackles and Paul Soliai has two of the team’s five tackles for loss.

The Atlanta Falcons are playing no defense, which usually forces me to take my chances with the points. However, it’s not like the Bucs are this explosive offensive team that can exploit those weaknesses. Give me the Falcons by a touchdown.
