The Line: Chicago Bears +7 -- Over/Under: 47.5
The Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions face off on Sunday at Soldier Field in a NFC North NFL battle.
The Chicago Bears are 5-9 this season but they have lost their last three games and are jus looking sloppy on the field. The Bears offense is averaging 21.1 points and 338.2 yards per game and are led by QB Jay Cutler who has completed 66.1 percent of his passes with 28 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and despite staying healthy this season he has done little to make his team look like contenders. Matt Forte leads the Chicago ground attack with 932 yards and six touchdowns and he has 88 receptions and three touchdowns and Martellus Bennett has 81 catches and six touchdowns. Ryan Mudy is the Bears leading tackler with 89 tackles, Jon Bostic has 67 tackles, and Willie Young has 9.5 sacks. The Bears will need to do some serious thinking about their future direction.
The Detroit Lions lead the NFC North winning heir last three games. The Lions offense has been inconsistent averaging 20.1 points and 340.9 yards per game led by QB Matthew Stafford who has completed 61.5 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Joquie Bell leads the Lions ground attack with 726 yards and six touchdowns and Golden Tate is Detroit’s leading receiver with 91 catches and Calvin Johnson has 61 catches. The Lions defense has been outstanding allowing a NFL best 17 points per game and a second best 300.3 yards and they are plus eight in turnover ratio. DeAndre Levy has 132 tackles, Tahir Whitehead has 79 tackles, and Ndamukong SUh has 42 tackles and 6.5 sacks. The Lions have been rock solid despite playing through a slew of injuries.
Chicago is 8-23 against the spread against the NFC, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, and 3-13 against the spread against the NFC North. Detroit is 8-3 against the spread against the NFC North, 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games, and 2-5 against the spread following a win. The home team has covered the point spread in six of the last eight meetings of these two.
I am not expecting a ton of scoring in this one so my free pick is the under. I will also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
