The Line: Cleveland Browns +3 -- Over/Under: 50
The Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts face off on Sunday in Cleveland in NFL action.
The Cleveland Browns have lost two of their last three games but they are still in the thick of the playoff hunt and are part of the massive tie for the Wildcard in the AFC. The Browns offense is averaging 21 points and 362.6 yards per game but they have a QB controversy on their hands as Bran Hoyer was replaced by Johnny Manziel which is a move most knew was a matter of when, not if. No decision on the QB has been as well as far s the starter for this week but I would see Manziel being the likely choice. Isaiah Crowell has been the back of choice recently averaging 4.4 yards per carry with seven touchdowns and Terrance West has 502 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Hawkins is Cleveland’s leading receiver with 52 catches and Josh Gordon has 15 catches since returning from his suspension. The Browns defense allows 20.4 points per game and 360.4 yards and are plus six in turnover ratio. Donte Whitner ahs 79 tackles, Karlos Dansby has 73 tackles, and Joe Haden has 63 tackles. The Browns should make their decision at QB early this week.
The Indianapolis Colts have played a brutal schedule but they are 8-4 and two games clear in the AFC South. The Colts offense is the best in the NFL averaging a league best 31.8 points and 438.2 yards per game and they are led by Andrew Luck who has completed 63.7 percent of his passes with 34 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Trent Richardson is the Colts leading rusher with 445 yards and Ahmad Bradshaw has 425 yards and 38 receptions. T.Y. Hilton is the Colts leading receiver with 68 catches and five touchdowns and Reggie Wayne has 54 catches and two touchdowns. The Colts defense allows 23.6 points and 364.8 yards per game and they are minus two in turnovers. D’Qwell Jackson has 101 tackles and 4.0 sacks, Jerrell Freeman has 71 tackles, and Mike Adams has 66 tackles. The Colts are looking like a playoff team and they still have a chance at home field advantage but they need to win and they need some help.
Cleveland is 3-0-1 against the spread following a loss, 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games against a team with a winning road record, and 5-2 against the spread following a loss by 14 or more points. Indianapolis is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 16-5 against the spread against the AFC, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a game that they covered the point spread. The road team is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings of these two.
This game is probably close and I can see the Colts getting the win but I like the Browns with the points.
