The San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills play Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The San Diego Chargers are coming off a monster win over the Seattle Seahawks and are asking veteran quarterback Philip Rivers to make much of the plays. Rivers is completing 67.1 percent of his passes for 522 yards and four touchdowns, while the Chargers running game is almost nonexistent, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry. It doesn’t help matters that Ryan Mathews injured his MCL and Danny Woodhead hasn’t shown he’s worthy of being a reliable backup. The Chargers look like they’ll remain that gunslinging team that lives and dies with each throw Philip Rivers attempts. Defensively, the San Diego Chargers are allowing 345.5 yards per game and have four sacks. Shareece Wright leads the Chargers with 15 tackles and Eric Weddle has eight tackles and two pass deflections.
The Buffalo Bills have been the surprise team so far with wins over the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. The Bills are getting the job done with a run offense and a run defense. A combination of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson has the Bills averaging 4.6 yards per carry and three runs of more than 20 yards. Quarterback EJ Manuel is doing a nice job of managing the game, completing 66.7 percent of his passes and already hooking up with Sammy Watkins 11 times. The Bills have a young and explosive offense that is more than capable of putting points on the board in a hurry. Defensively, the Buffalo Bills have forced five turnovers and are allowing just 83 rushing yards per game. Preston Brown leads the Bills with 20 tackles and Mario Williams has a sack in each of the first two games.
I really like the energy the Buffalo Bills are playing with right now. I also don’t like the fact the Chargers are coming off a massive upset and have to travel across the country. If this isn’t a letdown spot, I’m not sure what is. Give me the Buffalo Bills to win their third straight game of the season.
