The New Orleans Saints head to North Carolina on Sunday for a game against the Panthers in a matchup of teams from opposite ends of the NFC South.  In their last game, the Saints defeated the Tennessee Titans by the score of 38-28.  Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 27 of 38 passes for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Alvin Kamara was the Saints leading rusher as he carried the ball 11 times for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Michael Thomas was the most productive New Orleans receiver on the day as he caught 12 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown.  The Saints gained a total of 377 yards against the Titans while allowing 397 total yards.

With the win against Tennessee, the Saints moved to 12-3 on the season and clinched 1st place in the NFC South.  Saints quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for 2,726 yards and 24 touchdowns against 4 interceptions so far this season.  Running back Alvin Kamara has been the leading rusher for New Orleans as he has carried the ball 163 times for 758 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Michael Thomas is the lead receiver for the Saints as he has caught 145 passes for 1,688 yards and 9 touchdowns for far this year.  The Saints enter Sunday’s game with 5 players listed on their injury report as Andrus Peat, Kiko Alonso, Vonn Bell, Marcus Williams and Larry Warford are all listed as questionable.

The Carolina Panthers welcome the New Orleans Saints to town after losing their last game to the Indianapolis Colts by the score of 38-6.  Panthers quarterback Will Grier completed 27 of 44 passes for 224 yards and 0 touchdowns against 2 interceptions.  Running back Christian McCaffrey led the way for the Panthers on the ground, rushing 13 times for 54 yards.  McCaffrey was also Carolina’s leading receiver as he caught 15 passes for 119 yards.  The Carolina offense gained a total of 286 yards while their defense gave up a total of 324 yards to the Colts offense.

With the loss to Indianapolis, Carolina is now 5-10 on the season which places them in 4th place in the NFC South and they will be looking to rebound at home against a tough New Orleans Saints team.  The game against the Colts was Will Grier’s first career start.  Quarterback Kyle Allen is the leading passer for the Panthers and has thrown for 2,750 yards on the season, including 16 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.  Running back Christian McCaffrey has rushed 278 times for 1,361 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season.  D.J. Moore is the leading receiver for the Panthers as he has caught 87 passes for 1,175 yards and 4 touchdowns this year.  Carolina enters Sunday’s game with 4 players listed on their injury report as Marquis Haynes, Woodrow Hamilton, Shaq Thompson and D.J. Moore are all listed as questionable.

The New Orleans Saints have scored 27.7 points per game this season while allowing 22.1 points per game.  The Saints have averaged gaining 385.8 yards per game this season while allowing 354.8 yards per game.  The Carolina Panthers have scored an average of 22 points per game this season while allowing 28.5 points per game.  The Panthers have gained an average of 374.2 yards per game on the year while allowing 394.1 yards per game.  In their last 5 games, the Saints are 4-1 while the Panthers are 0-5 and are continuing their downward spiral to the season.  The Saints won the first meeting of these two teams on the season by the score of 34-31 in a game played in New Orleans.  I am going to go with the Saints to win this one as I don’t believe the Panthers have enough talent to keep up with New Orleans.  I will also be going with the Saints due to the fact that they are 11-2 in their last 13 games while Carolina is 0-7 in their last 7 games.  I will also be going with the Saints to cover the spread in this game as Carolina is just 1-5-1 against the spread in their last 7 games.  New Orleans wins 31-17 and covers the spread.
