The New York Jets also need a victory after a heartbreaking loss to the Buffalo Bills. The New York Jets have lost their last six home games. Sam Darnold is completing 68.3 percent of his passes for 175 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. Trevor Siemian is going to get the start in this contest, his 25th career start and first since 2017 with the Denver Broncos. The Browns are 5-12 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Monday games and 19-39-1 ATS in their last 59 games overall. The Jets are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Browns are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the favorite is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 meetings. The over is 6-2 in Jets last 8 home games. The over is 6-2-1 in Browns last 9 vs. AFC.
The Cleveland Browns have failed to cover 10 of their last 13 games as a favorite. The New York Jets are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog. This line has now jumped 3.5 points, and the announcement of Sam Darnold being out has a lot to do with that. However, I've said it before and I'll say it again; I'm not laying chalk with the Browns until they show they're capable of covering numbers. Every year bettors say this is the year the Browns are going to be profitable, and every year they're terrible both SU and ATS. While they're far more talented than they showed last week, that performance wasn't surprising given what we see from this team year in and year out. Also, Darnold isn't the best young quarterback in the world, so losing him isn't a big deal in my eyes. You can also do a lot worse than Siemian as a backup, as he flashed potential in Denver and has 24 previous starts under his belt. Give me the Jets and the points. I'm not laying chalk with the Browns. I'm not laying... You get the idea.
