The Line: Cleveland Browns -2.5 -- Over/Under: 42.5
The St. Louis Rams and Cleveland Browns play a Saturday preseason game at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The St. Louis Rams are winless in their first two preseason games with their most recent loss coming to the Green Bay Packers, 21-7. The Rams lone score was a second quarter touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to Lance Kendricks. Bradford finished the game with 101 passing yards and nine completions on 12 passes. Other than that, the Rams really struggled offensively, including a rushing attack that averaged less than three yards per carry, while Tre Mason led the way with 30 rushing yards. Overall, the St. Louis Rams finished the game with just 216 yards and managed just one red zone trip. Defensively, the Rams allowed 386 yards and a score in each quarter. Lamarcus Joyner led the Rams with six tackles, while Michael Sam was one of three Rams with a sack.
The Cleveland Browns are also 0-2 in the preseason, as they lost 24-23 to the Washington Redskins. The Browns managed just three points through the first three quarters and neither Johnny Manziel or Brian Hoyer have looked great. Hoyer completed just two of six passes for 16 yards, while Manziel completed seven of 16 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. The player of the game for the Browns was running back Ben Tate, who pounded out 51 yards on 10 carries and looks like he’s ready for the regular season. With this being the third preseason game, it’s going to still be a battle between Hoyer and Manziel. Overall, the Cleveland Browns finished with 286 yards and scored 20 fourth quarter points. Defensively, the Browns allowed 429 yards and forced four turnovers. Christian Kirksey led the Browns with eight tackles and Jim Leonhard returned an interception for a touchdown.
This should be where the Cleveland Browns get their first preseason win. The Rams have shown very little offensively and a heated quarterback battle between Hoyer and Manziel should result in enough points to get the victory and cover the spread.
