The Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles play a preseason game Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Indianapolis Colts have won 11 games for three straight seasons and hope to take that next step this season. The Colts are flat out set on the offensive side of the ball with Andrew Luck leading the way, along with the additions of Frank Gore, Andre Johnson and T.Y. Hilton already in the fold. Having youngsters Phillip Dorsett and Donte Moncrief also doesn’t hurt. Matt Hasselbeck is the Colts backup quarterback, a veteran who will turn 40 years old next month. Defensively, the Colts have a lot to prove if they’re going to make a strong push for a Super Bowl. Guys will get a lot of reps with injuries to Robert Mathis and Tevin Mitchel. Players to watch in the preseason include Henry Anderson, Clayton Geathers and Sheldon Price.
The Philadelphia Eagles look to return to the playoffs after falling just short last season. The Eagles have some interesting questions offensively, as Sam Bradford is the new starting quarterback. Philly will also be relying heavily on young receivers such as Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews. Running back depth of DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles will be fun to watch. The Eagles have an intriguing backup QB battle between Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley, and, yes, Tim Tebow. Nobody doubts Chip Kelly’s offensive mind, but his offseason moves were interesting to say the least. Defensively, the Eagles have a lot of young guys looking to prove they can step up, including Kiko Alonso, Jaylen Watkins and Brandon Bair.
The Colts are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games on grass and 16-7-1 ATS in their last 24 games overall. The Eagles are 11-24-1 ATS in their last 36 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on grass. The Colts are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
I love the Eagles quarterback depth, as they have four guys who can play at a decent level, especially against second and third-string defenses. I don't like the Colts past their starters at all. I love the Eagles to win this game and cover the reasonable number.
