Up at Sports Authority Field on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos will be meeting up in NFL action.
KC enters this game at 9-6 and knocking on the door of the playoffs. (They've locked up the division.) After a four-game losing streak, the Chiefs have won three straight, most recently beating Miami on Sunday. In that one, Kansas City QB Alex Smith managed 304 yards and a TD.
Smith has logged 4042 yards with 26 TDs and five picks on the year, while Kareem Hunt has 1292 yards with seven TDs to lead the KC rushers. The Chiefs’ lead receiver is Tyreek Hill with 1183 yards and seven scores on 75 catches.
Over on the Denver side, they’re 5-10 this year. The Broncos had won two games in a row, but fell to the Redskins in their last appearance. In that one, Denver QB Brock Osweiler managed 193 yards with one INT.
Osweiler is currently sitting on 1088 yards with five TDs and five picks, and CJ Anderson is the leading Broncos rusher on 946 yards and three TDs. Heading up the receivers for Denver is Demaryius Thomas with 892 yards and four TDs on 77 grabs.
The Chiefs are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 versus the AFC West and 4-1 ATS in their last five games in December. KC is also 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a straight-up win and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games.
Meanwhile, the Broncos are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in Week 17 and 3-7 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Denver is also 2-6 ATS in their last eight versus the AFC and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 versus the AFC West.
KC looked downright awful in that four-game losing stretch, but to their credit they’ve battled back, scoring at least 26 in each game and allowing no more than 15 points. The Broncos, meanwhile, have had a couple of good games lately but to be fair they played the Jets and Colts in that time. The Chiefs don't need to secure a win here, but I like them to bag a cover anyhow. Give me KC.
