The Line: Denver Broncos +1.5 -- Over/Under: 41
The New York Jets and the Denver Broncos face off in week 14 NFL action from Mile High on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Jets will try to climb back to .500 after improving to 5-7 with a 38-31 win over Kansas City in their last outing. Josh McCown completed 26 of 36 pass attempts for 331 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for a pair of scores as well. Matt Forte led the Jets on the ground with 58 yards on 15 carries, while Bilal Powell took his team-high 18 carries and spun them into 48 yards and a touchdown. Jermaine Kearse led the Jets’ receiving corps with 9 catches for 157 yards, while Robby Anderson added 8 grabs for 107 yards and Matt Forte chipped in 3 catches for 33 yards and a score. Defensively, the Jets combined for a pair of sacks, holding the Chiefs to just over 17 minutes of possession but still giving up a whopping 474 yards of total offense in that short timespan.
The Denver Broncos need anything to snap them out of an 8-game tailspin, falling to 3-9 this year after a 35-9 loss to Miami last time out. Trevor Siemian threw for 200 yards and 3 interceptions while C.J. Anderson led the Broncos in rushing with 15 carries for 67 yards. Anderson also led Denver in receiving with 4 catches for 43 yards, while Jamaal Charles added a team-high 5 catches for 39 yards. On defense, the Broncos combined for a pair of sacks, a forced fumble that was also recovered to go along with a pair of interceptions, including a 65-yard pick-six from Justin Simmons, giving up 367 yards and over 34 minutes of possession while holding the Steelers to a 4 for 19 mark on 3rd down in the game.
New York is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games against the AFC and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Denver is 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Denver.
I’m not sure how anyone can back the Broncos in their current form. They’re a team that’s lost and don’t have a solid answer quarterback right now. Flip the coin, and you have a Jets team that has been solid ATS lately and looks like they could make a late push to try to get a wild card team. Even on the road, I think laying the points with the Jets is the only option here.
